Description

This is a 1 day course for people who have never climbed before, but would like to try real rock climbing. It is also the correct course for people who have done a little indoor climbing, or perhaps some climbing a long while ago, and a safety refresher is needed. The course will start from assuming no prior knowledge, and will go over all of the basics – with safety in mind, but not forgetting fun.

  • Correct fitting of a helmet and a the correct fitting of a harness
  • How to tie safely and correctly into a rope prior to climbing
  • Crag Ethics & Etiquette
  • Interpretation of a Guide Book
  • Movement Skills Coaching
  • Use of climbing equipment – belay device, carabiners, ropes
  • Safe & competent Bottom Roping Belaying (from the bottom of the climb)
  • An introduction to abseiling
